As a beginner to quilting I am always interested in appliqué quilt patterns. I find many interesting patterns that are easy to create, and you can also buy them already created.

I came across this web-site offering a huge variety of appliqué patterns and decided to share this with you guys. Go over to Cabbage Rose Quilts and check out the pretty blocks and supplies. I hope you enjoy!

Easy quilt patterns using letters

February 4th, 2011

I recently made two quilts for my kids, so I made something with easy quilt patterns in mind. I wanted to make the quilts interchangeable. I used letters large and small in all different colors from a crazy word jumble, and placed them all over the quilt in different sizes and shapes.

Next I put them in a wacky order that made it look like you’ve thrown them onto the blanket, sort of messy like. This made the quilts fit in for my kids because it didn’t make there room look so neat for them, and they liked that; and believe it or not this made them make there beds more?

Quilting for beginners

January 14th, 2011

I was out running errands today when I came out of Walgreens and it dawned on me, that I needed some vacuum bags there happened to be a local vacuum & sewing supplies store in the same center.

I went in and purchased some bags, but as I was about to leave I seen this lady demonstrating with some kids these pattern thingy’s on the table, This really got my attention, so I had to check it out. They were making a blanket or some kind.

These kids were really into laying out the material while the lady was showing them how to piece together everything to prepare for sewing. Now I ‘m really interested, so I get closer and I start asking question about what they are making, she says a quilt. It turns out this is something they do weekly at the store with all age groups, how cool is that.

The instructor gave me a green sheet of what materials I would need and the hours of teaching for quilting for beginners, if I was interested. WOW! This is so cool; I’m very interested in this.

Once I got home I went to Google and looked up quilting, and then I must have spent the next three hour just consuming all the patterns and info on the internet. Now I am going back next Saturday to take my first class in quilt making. I can’t wait this is going to be exciting. I am excited about making my very own quilt and look forward in showing you soon.
